Manga for sale! [Tuesday, June 19th, 2007
7:20pm]

halfling_rogue
[ mood | hopeful ]

Probably of most interest to some of you, I've got a few Inu-Yasha and Ceres manga in the monthly release format, as opposed to the mass graphic novels that ViZ currently releases. For Ceres I have the entireity of volume one in issues 1-6, volume 2 issues 1-6, and volume 4 issues 1 and 2. For Inu-Yasha, I have part six (when Miroku's hellhole is widened and Inu-Yasha uses the Kaze no Kizu for the first time, when Naraku revives Kohaku, and they meet Jinenji), issues 4, and 6-11. All the issues are $6 each, or $4 each if you buy a volume set. All are in perfect or near-perfect condition.

For volumes I have Rg Veda (vol. 1), DragonBall Z (1), DragonBall (1), the All-New Tenchi Muyo! (2), Gravitation (2), Fushigi Yuugi (1, 17), Ranma ½ (22, 28, 36), Chobits (7), CLOVER (1), Girl Got Game (3), and Bleach (7).

All volumes are $6, except for a few that are in iffy condition and are $4, although I'm willing to barter.

I also have a number of DragonBall Z books in French, which are $2 each, except for a few damaged ones (they originally belonged to the public library) that I'm willing to give away for free.

Those interested can e-mail me at halfling[.]rogue[@]gmail[.]com (put "Manga for sale" as the subject so that I don't think it's spam!). I live in the south end of the city, near the South Keys shopping centre, but I'm willing to bring them to people's houses if you're not too far away.

I'm moving to the big TO for the summer and taking this chance to find good homes for the anime and J-horror I'll probably never watch again. I'm open to trading as well.

Cartooning Couses [Wednesday, January 31st, 2007
1:01pm]

dabunz
I'm offering two new cartooning courses, page 28, starting next week. They are both about learning to draw cartoons, comic strips and comic books. One is Wednesday evenings, 7-9pm at Glebe Collegiate, for 7 weeks, and the other is Thursday evenings 7-9pm, at Bell High School, for 7 weeks, too.

I hope I can get the turnout I've been getting so far, for my Intro to Art program, at the Ottawa School of Art. Yes, these two new courses aren't free, I know, but the price works out to about $15 a week.

Come on out, have some fun, and maybe learn a few things about the art of cartooning.

GBLT art course [Thursday, January 11th, 2007
6:35pm]

dabunz
If you're 15-25, queer or queer-friendly, and interested in art, sign up for my course at the Ottawa School of Art. It starts this Tuesday Jan 16, from 7pm-9pm, and it's free.

Did I mention it's free? Absolutely free. Free registration and free art materials. This is an initiative funded by the OSA, Pink Triangle and various other local companies.

You don't have to any experience or aptitude; a desire to learn how to use inks, pastels, acrylic paints and lots of other mediums is all you need.

Here is my course outlineCollapse )

Just get yourself to the OSA and sign up. I promise to make this a fun and educational semester.

Pimp my Game. [Thursday, November 30th, 2006

[ mood | hopeful ]

Go figure I live here ten years and don't find this comm until the year we decide to move to BC. But! While I'm still here, might as well make the most of it. I'm a Carleton student, by the by.

So, I have a couple of games here that are looking for players. I hope it's okay to post these here, otherwise tell me and I'll take it down.

ahoy_rpg - An AU pirate RPG that recently suffered a huge loss of players. Looking especially for a Kurogane and a Roxas, as well as a Straw Hat gang and Final Fantasy, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Trigun characters. The game allows you to integrate fandom worlds as islands. OCs allowed. (Seriously, this place has merit just for the religious system.)

moksa_u - A 'teleported from canon' university RPG, in the process of getting back into action. Looking for a Tidus, girl characters and teachers, as well as Bleach and Kingdom Hearts characters. Headmistress of the school is Yuuko Ichihara from xxxHolic. OCs allowed. (And I have to say, the sex ed classes are getting interesting...)

Looking For Anime/Manga Artists [Monday, July 31st, 2006
11:57am]

hexpiritus
I'm looking for anime or manga artists who are also into the gothic culture, either through their lifestyle or through their art.

I've having a show on Mon. Sept. 4 @ Avant-Garde Bar selling zines and chapbooks for my small press, having local industrial and electronica DJs, showing a local B-grade slasher movie, and having a "bad goth poetry" contest.

In addition, I would like to have artists on a panel to be able to draw sketches, small portraits, or "convention badges"-like illustrations for any attendee of the event. What does the artist get out of it? Well, they get a free drink for participating, and they can only draw one free picture per attendee, so if that person wants more art, they have to pay for it. :) Secondly, the artists are allowed to bring any finished work, prints, and the like to sell at the show.

Check out http://www.nekusis.com and http://community.livejournal.com/darkottawa/582178.html for more details. Respond to this post if you're interested, or email me at nekusis@gmail.com.

Hey dudes. I'm selling ALL of my anime merchandise to raise some money for my university fees and to clear up some space in my room. I'm selling EVERYTHING including mangas, dvds, plushies, and --usually the most popular of all-- doujinshi imported directly from Japan. MOST of the merch is being sold 50% off save a couple valuables. Everything is in excellent condition.

You can pay me through paypal, cheque, money order, or --since this is local-- meet up somewhere to make an exchange. It's up to you (note: all exchanges will be made somewhere public, preferably a mall).

Please leave a comment in this thread with the name of the item(s) you're interested in so that we can arrange something.

The goods.Collapse )

Cross-posted in a heckuvalot of places.

If you have any additional questions you can email me at vappy (at) sympatico.ca.

Hi everyone, nice to meet you all! ^^ I'm nej.

I recently created a community, so I'm looking for people interested in translation. If you'd like, please take a look at j_translation. It's a community focused on Japanese-English translation and translation help, so pretty much anything goes within that topic. Posting in English or Japanese is welcomed. Currently, I'm looking for a native speaker of Japanese for a co-moderator, so if you're interested, sent me an email and we'll talk about it: nejthefroggie@hotmail.com.

Thank you for reading! Hope to see some of you at the community.

みなさん、こんにちは!そしてはじめまして!ネージと言います。^^

最近コミュニティーを作りましたが、翻訳に興味がある人はここにいるのかな?よかったら、j_translationを見て下さい。 :nejthefroggie@hotmail.com

Hello! Before I do the buying-off-the-internet thing that I'm not a fan of, I thought I'd ask if there is somewhere in Ottawa that I could buy loose socks and the glue that holds them up.
Thank you!
